FOND du LAC, WI. - At the Blue Line Family Ice Center, the Bulldog women's hockey team's scoring may have been more spaced out than Friday afternoon, but the result came out the same as Adrian completed the weekend sweep of Marian University with another 4-0 victory.
The black and gold continued to pummel the Sabre defense, outshooting the hosts 48-26. All told, the visitors mustered 93 total shots over the weekend, averaging 31 per period.
The 'Dogs needed only 45 seconds to get the puck rolling.
Sydney Daversa, in her 104th career game for Adrian initiated the scoring in the opening frame, notching her 17th career goal off of assists from
Jessica VonRuden and
Karmen Anderson.
The Bulldogs doubled their advantage almost eight minutes later, as
Abbie Grias lit the lamp for the second time in the series, and first on the powerplay.
Emma Corbett and
Brooke Schembri went on to tally goals for Adrian in the second and third period, respectively, including another man-advantage mark for the Bulldogs from Corbett.
Also corralling points for the black and gold on the afternoon were
Reaghan Pietrowski with a pair of assists, and
Julia Barrett with one dime. Schembri and Grias contributed additional assists as well, chipping in one each.
Sophie Goldberg made her second start of the season in the paint for Adrian, recording her first shutout of the season with a 26-save performance.
The Bulldogs (4-1, 2-0 NCHA) continue conference-play next weekend with a home-and-home series against Trine University.
