VonRuden Drops a Hat Trick; Women's Hockey Routs Trine 7-1

ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Arrington Ice Arena, the Adrian women's hockey team brought the thunder against its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association rival, Trine, striking for seven goals on 46 shots en route to a 7-1 victory.

Jessica VonRuden recorded her second-career hat trick for the Bulldogs, her first since December 7, 2019 versus Aurora.

Brooke Schembri and Abbie Grias also turned in three-point efforts, contributing one goal and two assists each.

The black and gold's scoring on the evening was rounded out by Une Bjelland in her first game back from Olympic qualifiers, and Jocelin Hudanish.

VonRuden tallied the first goals of the evening in the opening period, including a shorthanded breakaway opportunity from Sydney Daversa.

The visitors got one back soon after the captain's second point, however, trimming the deficit to 2-1. But a stellar finish by Schembri less than two minutes later restored the home side's two-goal advantage.

The fifth-year season's goal would spark a five-goal rally by the black and gold, including a trio of powerplay goals.

Callie Wollschlager chipped in a game-high three assists for the Bulldogs, followed by Schembri and Grias.

Karmen Anderson, Maya Roy, Daversa, Hudanish and Bjelland each corralled a single assist for the 'Dogs.

In the paint, Sophie Goldberg stopped 16 shots to secure her second-straight victory and fourth overall on the season.

Adrian (5-1, 3-0 NCHA) and Trine will meet again tomorrow night in Angola. Puck drop is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the Thunder Ice Arena.
