ANGOLA, Ind. – The No. 3 Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team was looking for a sweep of the weekend series against Trine University. On Saturday night the Bulldogs traveled to Trine
Hunter Wendt got the Bulldogs on the board with a power play goal to lead 1-0.
Sam Ruffin and
Alessio Luciani recorded assists on the play. About four minutes later Wendt struck again on the power play to lead 2-0 from another assist from Luciani and
Jaden Shields. Later in the period,
Ryan Pitoscia recorded a goal to lead 3-0 with the help of assists from
Ty Enns and
Dawson Ellis.
The Bulldogs went silent the rest of the way and Trine began to come back. The Thunder made it a 3-1 game with a goal in the second period. Trine took advantage of a power play early in the third period to make it a one goal game. The Bulldogs were able to hold on a pull of the victory to complete the weekend sweep.
Nic Tallarico got the start in goal allowing two goals with 28 saves. The Bulldogs finished 37-21 in the faceoff circle and outshot the Thunder 38-30.
The Bulldogs still hold the undefeated all-time series against Trine moving to 16-0 in the program's history.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, November 24 at 7:00 PM as they travel to Plymouth, Michigan to take on the USA U18 National Team Development Program for the second time this season.
