NEW CONCORD, Ohio - At the Anne C. Steele Center, Muskingum outscored Adrian by 13 points in the second half en route to a 93-79 win.
Despite Bulldog career-highs from both
De'Ovion Price and
P'hariz Watkins, the visitors could not contain a 32-point performance by the Muskies' Alex Masinelli.
The home side opened the afternoon on a 7-0 run before Adrian found the scoreboard. The 'Dogs muscled together a string of outside shots and physical lay-ups to claim their first lead of the contest with 9:08 to play in the opening frame.
Adrian went on to build its biggest cushion of the contest at 29-25, but the Muskies always had a response for anything their opposition threw at them.
By the end of the day, the line was even in the paint, with both sides putting in 38 points. However, the hosts held a wide advantage on the glass, corralling 50 total rebounds to the Bulldogs' 33, in turn, creating 17 second-chance points.
Muskingum was able to slip in front by only a point at the break, though a plus-.500 field goal percentage by the home team kept them in the driver's seat down the stretch.
Price finished with a team-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers, while Watkins ended with 18 points on a 7-for-17 effort from the floor, also chipping in five assists and six rebounds.
Nolan Ansara paced Adrian on the boards, pulling down eight total, all on the defensive end.
The Bulldogs (1-4) return to Adrian on Tuesday, but will be challenging Siena Heights on their home floor at 8 p.m.
