MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The No. 3 Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team began its weekend series in Connecticut. The Bulldogs defeated RV Wesleyan University, 7-1. Adrian moves to 6-1 on the season and extend its winning streak to six games.
The Bulldogs went into the first intermission with the lead due to the help of two Adrian goals.
Matt Couto got things going on assists from
John Kaljian and
Zach Goberis. A few minutes later, the Bulldogs went up 2-0 on a Kaljian goal with assists from Goberis and
Grant Baetsen.
Alessio Luciani extended the lead to 3-0 in the second period off passes from
Matus Spodniak and
Rex Moe. Wesleyan picked up its only goal of the afternoon in the second period to make it a 3-1 game.
Ty Enns answered with a goal halfway through the period. Luciani and
Sam Ruffin added assists.
Adrian kept its foot on the gas in the third period by netting three goals. Enns recorded his second of the game early in the period with assists to
Chase Spencer and
Ayodele Adeniye. Moe found the back of the net to lead 6-1 followed two minutes later by a goal from Ruffin to lock up the 7-1 victory.
Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal for the Bulldogs recording 21 saves and allowing one goal.
Adrian will resume action on Sunday, November 28 when they take on No. 10 Trinity College. Tomorrow's game in Hartford, Conn. is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
