ST. PAUL, Minn. - At Tria Rink,
Callie Wollschlager scored twice and
Denisa Jandova recorded her program-record 21st career shutout to help lead the tenth-ranked Adrian women's hockey team to its second consecutive victory of the season, defeating (RV) Hamline University 5-0.
The Bulldogs also garnered scoring contributions from
Reaghan Pietrowski,
Karmen Anderson and
Jessica VonRuden.
Kaleigh Codorette and
Lindsey Sorrell paced the black and gold with two assists each, while
Sydney Daversa,
Sydnie Crockett,
Aileena Dopheide, Anderson and Pietrowski all added one.
The locals needed only six minutes to open the scoring on Saturday afternoon. A turnover along boards by the Pipers was gathered in by Pietrowski and fed across towards Daversa in front of the Hamline goal. Out of the mad scramble that ensued, the initial play-maker, Pietrowski, was able to poke the puck past the defending netminder for the game's first goal.
Then, seven minutes later, another steal by the visitors, this time by Crockett at the attacking blue line, set up a highlight reel snipe by VonRuden who dangled her way past a swarm of Piper defenders before slapping a shot into the top left corner to double the Bulldogs' lead.
In the second period, the black and gold copied their first frame performance with a second pair of goals. The first of which came just over eight minutes in from Anderson off assists from Pietrowski and Sorrell.
Not long after, Wollschlager netted her first of the contest, courtesy of a nifty feed from Codorette after the duo had gained the zone.
The Bothell, Washington product later tallied the game's final goal in the third period, going five-hole off her backhand to cap-off a brilliant breakaway that began off the stick of Codorette in the Pipers' attacking zone.
In-between the pipes, Jandova, in her second start of the young season, made 24 saves to keep Hamline off the scoreboard.
Adrian (2-1) continues it's early-season road trip next weekend with a two-day series at Marian University in Wisconsin.
