ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team will continue its tough 2021-22 schedule on Saturday as they take on No. 9 Wilkes University. Saturday's game will be a neutral site game in Pittsburgh, PA. at the Island Sports Center hosted by Robert Morris University. The Bulldogs come in ranked No. 1 in the Pairwise Rankings and No. 2 in the USCHO Coaches Poll with five first place votes. Wilkes comes into Saturday's game with a No. 9 ranking in both the Pairwise Rankings and the USCHO Poll.
The Bulldogs (9-1, 6-0 NCHA) have recorded wins over multiple ranked opponents including No. 3 Utica College, No. 10 Trinity College, and Wesleyan University who was receiving votes in the coaches poll. Wilkes (9-1-1, 6-1-1 UCHC) have played against only one ranked opponent on the season which was Utica in the team's 3-2 loss in their most recent game.
The Bulldogs will head into Saturday with 43 total goals on the season while Wilkes comes in with 53. However, Adrian has allowed only 21 goals on the year while Wilkes has allowed 27.
Ty Enns and
Rex Moe lead the Bulldogs with six goals each on the season while
Alessio Luciani leads the team in assists with 11 followed by eight from
Ryan Pitoscia. Pitoscia and Luciani lead the team in points at 13. Pitoscia is coming off a monster weekend where he recorded six points for Adrian with two goals and an assist on Friday followed by a goal and an assist on Saturday.
Trevor Coykendall is also coming off a very successful weekend for the black and gold after recording his first ever hat trick on Friday night to go with a goal and an assist on Saturday.
With the one-game weekend for Adrian,
Cameron Gray is the projected starter for the Bulldogs. He holds a 5-0 record so far this season with a shutout. He's allowed only 11 goals on the season in his five games averaging 2.20 goals against on the season.
Saturday's game is being played at Robert Morris University hosted by the Colonials. The Colonials are trying to reinstate their men's and women's hockey programs by trying to raise funds. The Robert Morris Hockey campaign in called "Hockey Is The Goal" and are hoping to raise enough funds to bring the programs back in the 2022-23 season.
Adrian College TV is making the trip to Pittsburgh to provide a video live stream of the game, but fans who are able to make the trip will be granted free admission. Saturday's game will be at 1:00 PM in Pittsburgh at the Island Sports Center.
