ADRIAN, Mich. - On Wednesday evening, the Adrian women's basketball fell cold in the second half, allowing the visiting Bluffton Beavers to pull away en route to a 66-45 non-conference victory.
A ten-and-a-half-minute stretch between the third and fourth quarters ultimately doomed the Bulldogs, as the road team managed to keep the home side silent over that span.
Despite only mustering nine points themselves during that timeframe, the Beavers had already established themselves a comfortable advantage by the end of the first half.
Bluffton got off to quick start, scoring the evening's first six points all from the charity stripe.
After an Adrian counter to pull within one, the visitors stepped on the gas and raced their lead into double-digits.
From there, the Beavers were able to use a strong presence inside the paint to keep the Bulldogs in their rearview mirror, and by the end of the night, Bluffton had outscored its opposition 36-14 underneath the basket.
13 different players found the scorebook for Adrian, including
Rylee Campbell and
Olivia Green, who each finished with eight points. The latter of the two connected on 2-of-4 from behind the three-point arc, marking her first career three-point buckets.
Kiaya Warner was one of three Bulldogs to corral a team-best four rebounds, also contributing a team-high two assists.
The black and gold now enter the holiday break, and will return to the hardwood on January 5 at Olivet College.
Adrian's next home contest is currently set for January 19 versus Alma College.
