BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Adrian College men's basketball team resumed its season action on the road at Bluffton University to kick off the two-day tournament against the Beavers. The Bulldogs battled against Bluffton, but couldn't pull it off losing 86-82.
Robert Warrick led the team with 22 points on the night.
The Bulldogs started the game hot scoring on the opening possession on a three-pointer from
Connor Pelham.
Andrew Larson, Warrick, and
Kendall Chrismon added baskets to lead 9-8. After Bluffton took the lead, Adrian battled back and went up 23-19 half way through the first half with the help of baskets from Pelham and
Josh Rechsteiner. After a
Nolan Ansara basket to lead 36-31 with 3:49 to go in the first half, the Bulldogs cooled down and trailed 42-39 at the break.
Warrick and Larson started the second half with baskets to take a one-point lead. It wasn't long until Bluffton responded to regain the lead before Larson tied it with a free throw with 15:00 to play. Chrismon picked up a three-point play followed by another basket from Rechsteiner to lead 55-50 with 12:49 to go. The Beavers responded with a run of their own grabbing a four-point lead with 7:16 to play. Adrian went on to trail by as many as eight points until Pelham and Warrick brought the deficit back to three with 2:00 to go. The Bulldogs struggled late, but made it a one possession game with nine seconds left, but couldn't get the ball back in time to tie it up.
Warrick led with 22 points followed by 19 from Pelham, 11 from
Jalen Paul, and ten from Larson. Warrick added seven rebounds on the night sitting behind eight from Larson.
Adrian moves to 1-9 on the year and looks to grab a win to end the tournament against Miami University-Hamilton tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
