BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Adrian College men's basketball team wrapped up its Holiday Tournament at Bluffton University on Thursday. The Bulldogs dropped another close one the Miami University-Hamilton to end the tournament. The Bulldogs battled all 40 minutes but fell 78-74.
Adrian went down 5-0 to start the game, but battled back to tie it up at 9-9.
Connor Pelham,
Josh Rechsteiner,
Andrew Larson, and
Robert Warrick had baskets during the run. Adrian trailed by as many as eight with 10 minutes to play in the half, but
Jalen Paul made back-to-back baskets to make it a four-point game. With five minutes to go in the first half, Miami-Hamilton led by five before
Ben Pacer knocked down a three to make it a two-point game. Warrick recorded a layup which was followed by a Larson dunk to give the Bulldogs the lead, but Miami-Hamilton scored in the final minute of the half to tie the game at 35-35 to head into the break.
Adrian came out scoring the begin the half as Warrick knocked down a pair of free throws followed by a three-pointer from
Nick Seifert to lead 44-39. Miami-Hamilton battled back and went on to lead by five with 13:09 to play.
Kendall Chrismon, Warrick, and Rechsteiner each recorded buckets to give the Bulldogs a two-point lead again. Miami-Hamilton sparked a late 10-0 run to lead 68-60 with 5:15 to go in the game. Pelham answered with a pair of three-pointers to make it a three-point game with 20 seconds to go, but it wasn't enough to pull off the win.
Pelham led the Bulldogs with 15 points followed by 14 from Warrick and 12 from Larson. Warrick added a team-high nine rebounds followed by seven from Larson contributing to the team's total of 35.
The Bulldogs will return to action at home on Wednesday, January 5 as they begin MIAA conference play against Olivet College at 7:30 PM inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
