Game Recap: Women's NCAA Volleyball |

Bounce Back Match Versus DePauw Helps Women's Volleyball Split Day Two at Cedar Point

SANDUSKY, Ohio - On their final day at Cedar Point, the Adrian women's volleyball team split a doubleheader with Hiram College and DePauw University.

Game 1 | Adrian 0, Hiram 3

In the first match of the morning, the Bulldogs kept things close with their opposition, but the Terriers found all the right touches when it mattered, sweeping the locals 29-27, 25-19 and 25-23.

In the first set, things began with both sides trading short jabs until Adrian started to sneak ahead. The Bulldogs built up a 22-16 lead following a 9-2 run, but Hiram hustled right back with an 8-2 run of their own to knot the set at 25-25. A three-point swing by the Terriers eventually clinched the first frame for the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) school.

The second set saw Hiram use a similar 10-2 midway through en route to a commanding two sets to none lead. Then, in the third set, things once again came down to the thinnest of wires with Adrian taking control late, up 23-22. However, the Terriers would avoid moving to a fourth set with another three-point run to take the match.

Blaire Weiman paced the black and gold at the net with 11 kills, while Katelyn Bergman and Ayden Cribbs contributed eight kills each.

Libero, Mya Minjares recorded 19 digs, and Hailey Farrell finished with a team-best 30 assists.

Game 2 | Adrian 3, DePauw 1

The Bulldogs (3-6) ended their stay at the park the right way by knocking off DePauw 25-21, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-15.

After both sides turned in twenty points each in the first three sets, Adrian buckled down to a ten-point victory in the deciding set.

Mallory Dorrow led the locals with 11 kills. Destiny Johnson assisted on four total blocks, and Farrell racked up 21 dimes for Adrian.

On the day, the Bulldogs' two opponents out-killed Adrian 88-85, but the black and gold did finish with a 15-14 edge in total service aces.

Adrian will get some much-needed time off before returning to the court next. The black and gold host Baldwin Wallace this upcoming homecoming weekend on September 18 at 11 a.m.
