HANOVER, Ind. -- The Adrian College football team traveled to Hanover College in hopes to lock up it's first win of the season. After being tied late in the game, Hanover scored to break the tie and lock up a 21-14 win over the Bulldogs.
Adrian struck first with 12 minutes left in the first quarter on a 32-yard touchdown pass from
Jack Wurzer to
Kenny Kujawa. Hanover responded in the quarter with a 1-yard rush to tie the game 7-7. Hanover broke the tie in the third quarter on an 11-yard touchdown pass to gain the lead. With a minute to go in the third quarter,
Gage Palus caught a pass from Wurzer and ran 29 yards to the endzone. With 32 seconds remaining Hanover recorded a touchdown to mark the decider.Â
Wurzer finished 7-for-22 with 162 yards and two touchdowns. Steve Moses led the Bulldogs on the ground with 83 yards rushing on 17 attempts.
Preston Smith recorded 103 yards receiving on three receptions.
On defense,
Kyle Minder led the black and gold with eight tackles follwed by seven from
Tyrelle Deener, Deandre Jennings, and
Brandon Kwiatkowski.
Sam Madrid recorded an interception and fumble recovery on the day for Adrian.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, September 18 at home as they host Greenville from Illinois on Homecoming Weekend.
