ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College football team hosted the Greenville University Panthers on Homecoming Weekend. The Bulldogs brought the offense and collected their first win of the season by a score of 41-28.
Steven Moses led the team with 186 rushing yards with two touchdowns.
Adrian got on the board early to grab a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a two-yard run from Moses. On defense, Tyrello Deener picked off a pass and ran it 41 yards for a touchdown to lead 14-0. Greenville scored in the second quarter, but was answered by a 15-yard run from Moses to lead 21-7. Greenville scored again with 1:50 to go in the half which was quickly answered by Adrian as
Jack Wurzer threw a four-yard pass to
Preston Smith for a touchdown to lead 28-14 at the break.
In the second half, Wurzer found
Gage Palus for a one handed catch in the back of the endzone to extend the lead. Greenville responded with a touchdown of their own, but
Malik Ray started the fourth quarter with a three-yard touchdown run to lead 41-21.
Wurzer finished the day with 14 completions on 19 attempts for 153 yards and two scores. In addition to the 186 rushing yards from Moses,
Malik Ray added 68 and a touchdown. Smith led the receivers with three receptions for 56 yards.
On defense,
Brandon Kwiatkowski recorded ten tackles followed by nine from
Kyle Minder, eight from
Donovan McCary, and seven on
Konrad Dixon. Deener finished the day with two interceptions for Adrian.
The Bulldogs will head up north to Finlandia University on Saturday, September 25 at 12:00 PM.
