ADRIAN, Mich. - In their second joint match of the season, the Adrian men's and women's tennis teams turned in equally convincing victories over visiting, Concordia Ann Arbor.
On Tuesday afternoon at Adrian's Craft Tennis Complex, the Bulldogs went 5-0 in doubles competition, en route to an 8-1 win for the men, and a 7-2 result for the women.
Zachary Perry and
Sebastian Smith improved to 2-0 as a pair by defeating the Cardinals' Frank Melcher and Jacob Gerace 8-2. Whiteman Hopper and
Sebastian Cowan also secured a point for the Bulldogs in doubles competition, winning their match 8-2 as well.
In singles,
Ryan Cuddy (2-0),
Brandon Falk (2-0),
Joey Quigley and Cowan (2-0) each tallied victories in their respective duals, with Quigley's win being his first of the season.
As for the women,
Liv Depies recorded her fourth win of the season with a straight-set effort over Hollie Johnson.
Bethany Posey (3-2),
Regan Snyder (2-1) and
Jamie Nicholls (2-1) each jumped over 0.500 on the season with decisive victories in their respective singles matches.
In doubles,
Jules Johnson and
Elizabeth Himebauch, fresh off an appearance at the ITA Central Regional tournament, made quick work of the Concordia duo of Hollie Johnson and Ellie Fritcha, posting an 8-2 final score.
Then, the Bulldog combos of
Vasiliki Gargasoulas and Posey, and Depies and Snyder clinched their respective doubles contests with 8-0 sweeps.
Next on the docket for the Bulldog men is their Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional this upcoming weekend back at Kalamazoo's Stowe Stadium. Then, the fall portion of the 2021-22 season wraps up for both the men and women at Anderson University on October 9.
