ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College football team opened the 2021 season at home against No. 24 Heidelberg University on Friday night. Adrian College honored the 50th reunion of the 1970, 71, and 72 MIAA Championship teams prior to today's game. The Bulldogs dropped the home opener by a score of 48-20.
Adrian struggled in the first in the first half allowing 21 points in the first quarter and 17 points in the second quarter to head into the break down 38-0.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the third quarter on a nine yard pass from
Jack Wurzer to
Cole Seslar to bring the score to 38-7. After a touchdown and field goal from Heidelberg, Wurzer rushed the ball into the end zone with seven seconds left in the third to trail 48-14.
In the fourth quarter, Wurzer ran another ball into the end zone to trail 48-20. Wurzer finished the game with 135 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Steven Moses led the Bulldogs on the ground with 65 rushing yards followed by Wurzer with 45 yards.
Kenny Kujawa finished with a team high 53 yards receiving for Adrian.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, September 11 at 1 PM at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.
