ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team was back on its home court on Wednesday night as they hosted Alma College. The Bulldogs began a winning streak as they have now won their past two games with a 108-80 win over the Alma Scots. Adrian was led by
De'Ovion Price and
Connor Pelham who finished with a combined 46 points.
The scoring started slow with Adrian grabbing a 10-5 lead with six minutes played in the game.
Jalen Paul, Pelham, and Price each contributed baskets to take the early lead. Alma came back to tie the game 15-15, but the Bulldogs went back up five with the help of free throws from
Kendall Chrismon. Adrian held onto the lead, but Alma gave it a scare bringing the deficit to two with the score 35-33 with 4:50 to go in the half. The Bulldogs sparked a late run to lead 45-38 with 2:23 to go in the half and went into the break with a 49-44 lead.
Adrian came out hot in the second half grabbing a quick 12-point lead to go up 61-49 with 16:35 to go in the game. The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas and went on to lead by 27 with the score at 90-63 with 6:45 to go in the game. After emptying its bench, Adrian went on to win 108-80 and score its largest amount of points this season.
Price led the way with 25 points followed by 21 from Pelham and 17 from Paul.
Michael Rightnowar made his first collegiate start tonight, and Chrismon finished with 16 points off the bench for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will return to action on the road at Calvin University on Saturday, January 12 at 7:00 PM to continue MIAA play.
