Game Recap: Men's NCAA Ice Hockey |

Moe Records Second Career Hat Trick as Men's Hockey Downs Lawrence, 8-1

ADRIAN, Mich. -- It is rare to see NCAA Division III hockey played on a Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, but it didn't stop the No. 1 Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team from sweeping Lawrence University. With the help of a hat trick from Rex Moe and a solid performance from Nic Tallarico in goal, the Bulldogs swept the series with an 8-1 victory. The Bulldogs move their win streak to 16 games and are now 16-1 on the season and 10-0 in NCHA play.

Dante Spagnuolo netted a goal to begin the scoring for Adrian and is now on a streak of scoring in four consecutive games. Spagnuolo has scored in three out of four appearances for the Bulldogs since being a semester addition to the team. Later in the period, Rex Moe found the netting to lead 2-0 and head into the first intermission with a lead.

After being shutout in the second period the night before, Adrian came out hunting in the second period this afternoon by scoring five goals. Moe struck again to give him his second goal of the game and make it 3-0. Zach Goberis scored a goal shortly after followed by another goal from Ryan Pitoscia to lead 5-0. Hunter Wendt put himself on the stat sheet with a goal to extend the lead before Moe finished the hat trick to make it a 7-0 game.

Lawrence got on the board for the first time late in the third period, but Trevor Coykendall  answered 40 seconds later to make it an 8-1 game and grab the victory.

Tallarico made the start in goal for Adrian today recording 20 saves an allowing one goal. He was faced with a two 5-of-3 disadvantages, but held strong by not allowing any goals.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday night as they host Lake Forest at the Arrington Ice Arena looking to remain perfect in conference play. Friday's game will start at 7:00 PM followed by game two on the series on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
