APPLETON, Wis. - At the Appleton Ice Arena, the Adrian women's NCAA hockey team scored an emphatic 8-0 victory over homestanding Lawrence University, snapping a three-game skid in the Bulldogs' first contest since January 8.
Three different Bulldogs posted multiple goals for the black and gold, including
Brooke Schembri, who with her first tally of the afternoon became the eighth player in program history to record 100 career points.
The fifth-year senior finished the day with two goals, while
Sydney Daversa and
Kaleigh Cadorette also sent home two.
Schembri's career-mark came nearly three minutes into the first period.
A puck dumped in below the goal line by
Julia Barrett was collected by
Aileena Dopheide. The freshman fed to Schembri behind the net, who was able to wrap around and force the puck past the outstretched pad-blocker of the Vikings' netminder for career-point No. 100.
The scoring continued for the 'Dogs later in the opening frame when an outlet pass from
Callie Wollschlager connected with a streaking
Abbie Grias into the attacking zone. With a defender bearing down, Grias lined the puck across to Cadorette who did just enough to redirect it into the back of the net, extending Adrian's lead to 2-0.
Schembri and Cadorette would go on to contribute the Bulldogs' next two goals, followed by additional second period tallies by
Une Bjelland and
Jessica VonRuden.
In the game's final 20 minutes, it was Daversa sparking the local's offense with her two marks, bringing the scoreline to its final.
All told, the Bulldogs featured 13 different point scorers.
Between the pipes,
Denisa Jandova made her first start since November 12, 2021, stopping seven shots to claim the shutout victory.
Adrian (8-5-1, 5-0-0 NCHA) continues its weekend road trip at Finlandia tomorrow afternoon with a 2 p.m. puck-drop against the Lions.
