ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's hockey team looks to grab another No. 1 spot this weekend during its trip to Concordia Wisconsin. The Bulldogs currently rank No. 1 in the USCHO poll and the Pairwise Rankings along with the current top spot in the NCHA. On the individual side,
Alessio Luciani ranks No. 1 in the nation in assists, and
Cameron Gray ranks No. 1 in goalie winning percentage. One more number one spot is available this weekend as a win would put head coach Adam Krug at the top in Adrian NCAA men's hockey history in wins.
Former Adrian head coach Ron Fogarty and current head coach Adam Krug sit tied at 167 career wins as the head coach of Adrian College. Krug's 167th win at Adrian came last weekend in an 8-3 home victory over Lake Forest College.
The No. 1 Bulldogs come into the weekend with an 18-1 record and sit 12-0 in the NCHA with 36 points. Adrian sits two points ahead of St. Norbert who is also undefeated in conference play, but slipped a couple of points due to overtime wins (2-points) rather than regulation wins (3-points).
Adrian's offense continues to grow as they now average 5.5 goals per game and hold it's opponents to to 2.0 goals per game. Luciani leads the team in assists (21), points (31), +/- (+24), and short-handed goals (2). Behind Luciani,
Rex Moe and
Ty Enns lead the team in scoring with 14 goals each to go along with 12 assists from Moe, and 11 from Enns. Semester transfer
Dante Spagnuolo has been a great addition to the team as he has recorded a point in each of the six games he has appeared in, and has already totaled 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Cameron Gray holds the starting goaltender spot for Adrian with an 11-0 record on the season.
Nic Tallarico has made five starts and is 4-1 on the year while
Dershahn Stewart is 3-0 in his three starts.
Concordia Wisconsin has struggled this season holding a record of 2-14-1. The Falcons sit a 1-9-1 in NCHA play with their lone win four games ago to Lake Forest.
