MEQUON, Wis. – One more win was all head coach Adam Krug needed to become the leader in Adrian NCAA men's hockey history in wins as a coach. On Friday night, the No. 1 Bulldogs defeated Concordia Wisconsin on the road by a score of 11-1. Krug grabbed career win No. 168 to top Ron Fogarty. A milestone for
Alessio Luciani came as well netting his 100
th career point.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead early in the first period as
Matus Spodniak recorded the goal. Less than a minute later,
Ty Enns scored his 15
th of the season to lead 2-0.
Sam Ruffin added to the lead scoring his sixth of the year with more than halfway to go in the period. With just over a minute to go,
Trevor Coykendall found the netting to lead 4-0.
Concordia Wisconsin got on the board early in the second period to cut into Adrian's lead. That didn't stop the Bulldogs as
Grant Baetsen responded with a goal to lead 5-1. Ruffin followed it up a minute later with his second of the game followed by a goal from
Jaden Shields to lead 7-1.
Ryan Pitoscia recorded his tenth of the season, and Spodniak went on to score his second of the game to take a 9-1 lead. With under a minute to go, Luciani scored on the power play to go up 10-1 after forty minutes.
Trevor Coykendall netted his second of the game in the third period giving Adrian an 11-1 lead. After a collision against the boards, broken glass forced the game to be called early giving Adrian an 11-1 victory.
Cameron Gray remains undefeated in goal on the season for Adrian and finished the game with 15 saves.
Game two of the series with Concordia Wisconsin will begin tomorrow at 5:00 PM EST. as the Bulldogs look to pick up the sweep.
