ST. PETERS, Minn - At the Don Roberts Ice Rink, the ninth-ranked Adrian women's NCAA hockey team fell to 0-3 on the season against fellow-ranked opponents, dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 6 Gustavus Adolphus.
The final result also marks the first time in almost three years the Bulldogs were held without a goal. That includes the regular season and the playoffs.
Freshman netminder
Gwen Bowler made her second career start between the pipes for Adrian, stopping a personal-best 35-of-37.
The homestanding Golden Gusties struck first in the evening's middle period after a scoreless opener.
Then, in the final frame of regulation, Emily Olson pushed home an insurance tally to double the lead at 2-0.
From there, defense became the name of the game, as the Gusties limited the visitors to just nine total shots.
A team-high three of those shots came off the stick of
Karmen Anderson, while
Zoe Lohrei contributed two chances.
The locals continue their Minnesota road trip tomorrow evening at Augsburg University. Puck-drop from Minneapolis is slated for 8 p.m. EST.
