Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Joel Snyder

Men's Basketball Snaps Skid; Defeats Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - At the Anderson Athletic Center, Kendall Chrismon and De'Ovion Price each went off with 20-point performances to help guide the Adrian men's basketball team to its first conference win of the 2021-22 season.

The emphatic victory over the Hornets snaps a ten-game drought dating back to mid-November.

"I'm really proud of the effort and intensity on the defensive end," said head coach Tim Kaiser. "The guys on the court were bringing the energy and the guys on the bench were being loud, so I'm extremely proud of how they played, how they fought, and how they stayed together."

After Kalamazoo opened the afternoon with the game's first bucket, the momentum seemed to fall into place for the black and gold, culminating in a 24-6 run over the ensuing nine-plus minutes.

Chrismon played a notable role in the Bulldogs' early success, contributing seven points during the team's initial run, and eventually finishing with 16 in the scorebook by the end of the first half.

"Everyday in practice we work hard," said Chrismon. "We play smart, and then we bring it to the court on gameday."

The locals entered the second frame with an 18-point cushion, and despite signs of life from the home side, the 'Dogs did everything they needed to do to secure the victory.

Price, who ended his appearance 10-for-14 from the field, took over for Adrian down the stretch, stifling the Hornets' defense from mid-range and in the paint.

"(Today) shows the guys what they can do when they play for each other," added Kaiser. "We were locked in and ready to go right from the warmups. We played a physical, aggressive game, and when you play that way, you can really take a team out of their rhythm, and I think we did just that today."

All told, the Bulldogs shot a season-high 57.4 percent from the field.

Connor Pelham added 14 points and seven rebounds for an Adrian team that is slated to return to the hardwood on January 12 versus Alma.
