ALBION, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team traveled to Albion College on Tuesday night for another MIAA competition. The Bulldogs sat at 2-2-1 heading into the contest and looked to move up in the conference standings. Adrian recorded a 2-0 victory on the road against Albion College.
The Bulldogs went up 1-0 early in the match.
Kelsey Zoli recorded a goal in the 15
th minute of the game to take the early lead. Adrian recorded five shots in the first half while Albion collected two.
Adrian extended its lead in the second half on a goal from Mckenna Mahoney in the 52
nd minute. The Bulldogs recorded five more shots in the second half against two from Albion.
Albion had opportunities in the first half on five corner kicks, but nothing found the back of the net. Albion recorded a red card in the second half to play the final 30 minutes down a player.
Of the ten shots recorded for Adrian, seven landed on goal.
Taylor Fischer finished the day with two saves as she picked up her sixth shutout of the season.
"This is a rivalry that goes way back and it seems like every game is a classic," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "Albion has a high work rate, they're well-coached, and they're creative and dynamic in the attack. Credit to our entire team for being organized defensively and supporting our attack with numbers. We were able to create some high quality chances and finished them with precision."
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, October 22 at home against Kalamazoo College for a 3:00 PM match.
