GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team battled Calvin University this evening.
How It Happened
Calvin got off to a fast start for the night and breezed to a 25-12 first set win.
Later, after trailing 13-21 in the second set, the Bulldogs were able to cut the lead to five after a pair of Kills from Senior Destiny Johnson. However, after a counter of kills for Calvin and an attacking error for Adrian, the Bulldogs came up short on the set. Calvin was able to ultimately win the second set 25-17.
During the third set, the Bulldogs came out swinging and led 11-7 after a pair of service aces from Junior Hailey Farrell and a kill by Junior Mallory Dorow. It had appeared momentum was on the Bulldogs side. Calvin responded with a run of their own and after a combination of kills, attacking errors, and a service ace, Calvin regained the lead to 14-11.
The Bulldogs would fight back. After a kill by Junior Amber Morris in the third set, Adrian was able to cut the lead to 22-20. The Bulldogs had almost climbed all the way back to tie the set up, but Calvin was able to close out the game on a 3-1 run.

Amber Morris led the Bulldogs with 8 kills, while Hailey Farrell led the team in assists with 20 and a game high 5 service aces on the night. Kayla Chan led the Bulldogs with 2 blocks and Mya Minijares totaled 21 digs on the night.

The Bulldogs have only two games left remaining in the regular season. On Wednesday, October 26, join the women's volleyball team for Senior Night, as the Bulldogs take on Saint Mary's College at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center at 7:00 P.M. The Bulldogs will close out the season at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday, October 29, as they host Hope College at 12:00 P.M.
