Bulldogs Win on Senior Night 3-1

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian Women's Volleyball Team Celebrated Senior Night, honoring the Bulldog's lone Senior Destiny Johnson Wednesday evening. The Bulldog's ended the night with a 3-1 victory over St.Mary's College (IN.).

How It Happened
During the first set, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on multiple scoring runs and dominated on the stat sheet, leading in points, kills, attack attempts, hitting percentage, and service aces. After claiming a 6-5 advantage over St.Mary's, the Bulldogs would lead for the remainder of the first set.

In comparison to the first, the second set was much closer in the beginning phases. St.Mary's would begin the second set with a 7-5 lead after a combination of kills and an Adrian service error and regained the lead 15-14 after an Adrian attacking error. During the middle of the second set, sophomore Mya Minjares lept out for a spectacular diving save, energizing the arena and awarding the Bulldogs with a point. However, after battling back and forth, St.Mary's would ultimately win the set 25-17.

The Bulldogs would open up the third set with a 9-4 lead after a service ace from Amber Morris. St.Mary's countered and the Bulldogs would find themselves tied twice throughout the set, including an 11-11 deadlock after a combination of kills and service aces from their opponent.

The Bulldogs would not falter, ending the set on a 14-9 advantage heading into the pivotal fourth set.

Finding themselves down in an 8-11 deficit in the fourth set, the Bulldogs remained poised and reclaimed both the momentum and the lead at 13-12 after a kill by Megan Feldmann. After kills by Amber Morris, Mallory Dorow, and Destiny Johnson, the Bulldogs created a 24-16 lead. After a misfire by a St.Mary's player the Bulldogs secured the victory.

Top Dawgs
Senior Destiny Johnson led the Bulldogs with 14 kills, Amber Morris pitched in with 10, and Mallory Darrow had nine kills on the night. As usual, Hailey Ferrell did an exceptional job leading the team in assists with 41 and Mya Minjares totaled 19 digs for the Bulldogs.

Looking Ahead
The Bulldogs will close out the season at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday, October 29, as they host Hope College at 12:00 P.M.
