LANSING, Mich. -- The Adrian Men's Rowing Team continued the good form of the Fall this weekend with a pair of wins at the Head of the Grand Regatta. With some strong winds and fast flowing water, the course presented a very different challenge from the previous weeks, with racing being dramatically shorter than the typical Fall racing.
 
At the beginning of the day the Varsity Eight came out on top of a very tough race to win the R. E. Olds Trophy by just a second over a strong crew from Grand Valley State University. The Bulldogs executed their race pace well in preparation for next weekend's Head of the Charles regatta, and coped with the strong pressure from the chasing GVSU crew with aplomb.
 
In the second race of the day, Adrian fielded a top four and second four. Another very tight race ensued, with the first four winning by just 0.6 seconds, and the second four placing fifth of ten crews. With both boats passing crews it was a strong showing from the Bulldogs and a good sign of things to come.
 
"This weekend presented some really good learning experiences for the team," Said Head Coach Sam Pratt, "We're obviously happy to win in both races, but felt that perhaps the performance needed some improvement. I thought the 2V Four was very impressive in a new lineup, and showed great intensity and attack, while the Eight had a visibly strong technical foundation. We're excited to move on to the Charles after another week of strong work!"
 
The Bulldogs will be back in action when their Eight races at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday 10/23/2022 at 1:55pm.
