WEST WINDSOR, NJ. – The Adrian College men's rowing team competed in the Varsity 4+ at the IRA National Championship. The Bulldogs entered the tournament seeded 33
rd before going on to make a run and place fourth in their final, and posted the highest finish for Division III schools.
The Bulldog 4+ boat consisted of
Sam Wyzlic (Coxswain),
Seth Parsons,
Kade Doyle,
Franco Van Oordt, and
Evan Barletta. After competing in the opening time trails, Adrian's ranking moved from 33
rd to 23
rd and landed them a spot in one of the event Semifinal Races. Adrian placed second in their semifinal with a time of 6:32.418 to advance to one of the six Varsity 4+ Finals.
In the finals, Adrian went up against Stanford, La Salle, Cornell University, Northeastern, and Marist and came away with a fourth-place finish with a time of 6:44.017. The Bulldogs battled against Division I competition in the later rounds, but highlighted their National Championship appearance as the highest placing Division III school. The team's finish marks the highest finish for a Division III school in the last two seasons at the IRA National Championship.
Adrian's season comes to a close after the National Championship as they concluded the races improving their program ranking to 22
nd in the country. The Bulldogs will return next year for the 2024-25 season.
