ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team traveled to Trine University on Tuesday afternoon to continue MIAA conference play. The Bulldogs battled all 90 minutes but a late goal from Trine caused an Adrian loss by a score of 1-0.
The match was scoreless after the first half. The Bulldogs recorded six shots against four from Trine, but none found the back of the net.
In the second half, Adrian added seven more shots and totaled four on goal for the match, but were held scoreless. In the 75th minute, the Thunder netted the only only goal on the afternoon to take a 1-0 lead and win the game.
"For the most part, we executed a game plan well," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "We frustrated Trine's top threats and gave ourselves plenty of looks at goal. We have to continue improving in the area of requiring something special of the opposing goalkeeper when we have shooting opportunities, and that's just something that we weren't able to do. We have a non-conference match against Oberlin on Thursday that we'll use to continue some fine-tuning before we get back to MIAA play on Saturday."
Mckenna Mahoney led the team with five shots on the day and landed two on goal.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Oberlin College on Thursday, October 6 for a 7PM match.
