Box Score ADRIAN, Mich – The Adrian College women's volleyball team defeated Trine in the MIAA Tournament opener Tuesday evening 3-1.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs entered tonight's matchup against the Thunder with a 8-22 disadvantage in their last 30 games of the series. Dating back to September of 2007, the women's volleyball squad had only beaten Trine twice in a row one time: 3-1 on September 7, 2016 and 3-1 October 7, 2016. The second time occurred September 20, 2022 in a 3-1 win and this evening, winning 3-1.
The Bulldogs fed off of the exuberant energy in Merillat Sport and Fitness Center this evening, winning the first, second, and fourth sets of the match. With the win tonight, the Bulldogs have captured their first MIAA Tournament win for the first time since 2008. Looking towards the semi-final, the Bulldogs will advance and play in the MIAA Tournament semi-final for the first time since the 2007 season. During the 2008 season, the Bulldogs won their first round MIAA Tournament match, but the remainder of the tournament was consequently canceled due to a virus breakout.

Amber Morris had a game high 16 kills, while freshman
Megan Feldmann chipped in with 14 of her own. Sophomore
Mya Minjares led the Bulldogs with 23 digs, and three aces. Junior
Hailey Farrell led all players with 35 assists. Throughout the game Minjares was very vocal and uplifting to her teammates. However, her leadership shined at a particular moment of the game. During a team huddle after the Bulldogs lost the third set 25-18, Minjares was seen cheering on and energizing various players among the Bulldogs.The team responded, closing the game out in the fourth set after outscoring Trine 25-22.
