ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team looked to continue its unbeaten streak on Friday night. The Bulldogs entered Friday's game on a 35-game unbeaten streak which was tied for the program record dating back to the 2009-10 season. Unfortunately for Adrian, the unbeaten streak came to an end on Friday night with a 5-2 loss to Marian University.
Marian took a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Just under eight minutes into the game, Marian scored its first goal to lead 1-0. Eight minutes later, the Sabres netted another goal to lead 2-0. In the second period, Marian extended the lead to 3-0 over Adrian.
The Bulldogs scored halfway through the second period on a goal from
John Kaljian off a faceoff win from
Ryan Pitoscia. Six minutes later, Marian responded to make it a 4-1 game heading into the third period.
In the third period, the Bulldogs scored on a 5-on-3 power play.
Jaden Shields netted the goal off assists from
Hunter Wendt and
Ty Enns. Adrian was later forced to pull its goaltender, and Marian netted an empty net goal to lock up a 5-2 win.
The Bulldogs will look to split the series with Marian on Saturday, November 12 at 4:00 PM at the Arrington Ice Arena.
