ANGOLA, Ind. — The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team traveled to Trine University for game one of the two-game NCHA series. The Bulldogs faced Trine in a preseason exhibition game back in October and came away with a 3-2 win. Tonight the Bulldogs trailed early, but bounced back to win 3-2 in overtime led by a two-goal night from Ty Enns.
Enns got the scoring going early in the game with a first period goal. Enns netted a power play goal assisted by Hunter Wendt and Bradley Somers to lead 1-0. Trine went on to answer and tie the game later in the period followed by another goal to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
In the second period, Enns struck again to tie the game 2-2 which resulted in his 100th career collegiate point. Dante Spagnuolo and Jacob Suede recorded assists on the goal.
The third period went scoreless forcing overtime for the Bulldogs and the Thunder. Shortly into the overtime period, Matus Spodniak found the back of the net on a pass from Sam Ruffin to claim a 3-2 overtime victory. The overtime goal from Spodniak marked his 12th goal of the season and his fourth game winning goal this year with his second in overtime.
