ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team was back in action on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Chatham University in a non-conference game. The Bulldogs moved to 9-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Chatham.
In the first period, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
Une Bjelland picked up a rebound shot from
Jessica VonRuden to make it a 1-0 game. Shortly after,
Reaghan Pietrowski received a pass from VonRuden and scored to lead 2-0. With under a minute to play in the game, Chatham had a 2-on-1 breakaway and scored to make it 2-1.
In the second period, Adrian extended its lead to 3-1.
Karmen Anderson netted her team-high sixth goal of the season on assists from
Tia Lascelle and
Annika Hanson.
The Bulldogs added goals in the third period to lock up the victory. Lascelle picked up a goal on a deflection on a shot from
Kathryn Truban. Later in the period, Lascelle netted another goal to lead 5-1 which was followed by another goal from Bjelland to make it 6-1.
Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal for Adrian. On the day she allowed one goal and recorded 22 saves.
Adrian will return to action when they travel to Norwich University for a tournament with Norwich, Elmira, and Plattsburgh State. The Bulldogs' first game of the tournament with be Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 PM against Norwich University.
