ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team wrapped up its two-game home series against Augsburg University on Saturday. The Bulldogs looked to complete the sweep after winning 4-0 on Friday night. Adrian came away with a 1-0 victory behind another shutout from goaltender,
Sophie Goldberg.
The Bulldogs scored in the first period on a power play.
Karmen Anderson received a pass from
Jocelin Hudanish and
Emma Corbett to find the back of the net and lead 1-0. The first period goal marked the fourth of the season for Anderson.
The Bulldogs and the Auggies went scoreless in the second. Adrian's defense played down a player for most of the period. The defense held strong after being challenged with a pair of 5-on-3 battles, but the Bulldogs were able to keep Augsburg scoreless.
In the third period, the Bulldogs were forced to kill another 5-on-3 penalty. Goldberg made five saves during the penalty kill and kept Augsburg scoreless. With 2:18 left to go in the game, Augsburg pulled its goalie and put an extra attacker on the ice. Goldberg continued to defend the net and picked up her second shutout of the weekend.
Adrian's next game will be at the Arrington Ice Arena as they open NCHA conference play with a two-game series against Marian University. The first game is scheduled for Saturday, November 12 at 7:30 PM.
