ADRIAN, Mich. – It was Senior Day for the Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team on Saturday prior to the regular season finale against St. Norbert. The Bulldogs honored eight seniors prior to the game including captain
Matt Eller,
Zach Goberis,
Sam Ruffin,
Grant Baetsen,
Andrew McCann,
Rex Moe,
Cameron Gray, and
Trevor Coykendall. After winning the Peters Cup the night before, the No. 1 Bulldogs still had work to do as they took on the No. 5 Green Knights.
Adrian picked up where they left off last night jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first. Ruffin found a pass from
Hunter Wendt and McCann to take a 1-0. Halfway through the period, St. Norbert responded with a goal of its own to tie the game 1-1 before the first intermission.
The Bulldogs was strong on offense in the second period scoring five goals.
Zach Goberis picked up a goal to take a 2-1 lad.
Ty Enns added a goal quickly followed by a goal from
Trevor Coykendall.
Matus Spodniak picked up a power play goal to put Adrian up 5-1. The Green Knights made it a three-goal game, but Spodniak recorded another goal to lead 6-2. Spodniak's goal came shorthanded for the second night in a row.
The third period was silent on scoring giving the Bulldogs the victory to finish undefeated in conference play.
Cameron Gray recorded his 16th win of the season with 27 saves on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs will have home ice for all of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs and will begin the playoffs on Friday night against the No. 8 seed which will be either Lake Forest of Marian. Game time is to be determined, but check Adrianbulldogs.com later this week for updates.
