Men's Basketball to Wrap Up Regular Season Against Alma and Trine

MBB Preview

Men's Basketball | 2/16/2022 2:50:00 PM

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's basketball team is in the final week of it's regular season before the start of the MIAA Conference Tournament next week. To wrap up the regular season, the Bulldogs are set to take on Alma College and Trine University. Adrian comes into the week with a 5-18 record and sit 4-8 in conference which currently sits fifth in the MIAA standings.

Alma has struggled this season as the Scots hold a 3-17 record on the year and are just 2-9 in conference play to sit in last place in the MIAA standings. Trine, however, is towards the top of the MIAA standings as they sit in third with a MIAA record of 8-4 and an overall record of 15-8.

Earlier this season, Adrian defeated Alma at home by a score of 108-80 setting a season high in points this season. De'Ovion Price finished with 25 points followed by 21 from Connor Pelham, 17 from Jalen Paul, and 16 from Kendall Chrismon off the bench. In addition to 17 points from Paul, he also added 11 assists to record a double-double during the blowout. Paul needs one more assist to hold the Adrian College men's basketball record for most assists in a single season as he currently sits tied at 146 with Michael Staley from the 2008-09 season.

During the home competition against Alma, Adrian led by just four points at halftime, but went on to shoot 62% during the second half to outscore the Scots 59-36.

It was a different story when Adrian traveled to Trine earlier this season as the Bulldogs fell to the Thunder 88-63. Pelham led the way with 23 points followed by 16 from Price, but the next highest Adrian scorer only had six. The Bulldogs trailed by seven at halftime, but Trine shot 71.8% in the second half to come out ahead led by All-American Nick Bowman.

Adrian looks to grab some momentum heading into the conference tournament next week as they attempt to end the regular season with a three-game winning streak. The last time out for the Bulldogs, the team handled Kalamazoo in a 78-59 blowout.

The Bulldogs will tip-off tonight against Alma College on the road at 7:30 PM followed by the regular season finale and senior day at home on Saturday starting at 3 PM.
