Another Trip to the Harris Cup Finals on the Line as Men's Hockey hosts Trine

ADRIAN, Mich. -- After a sweep over Lake Forest last weekend the No. 1 Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team is now tasked with Trine University in the Harris Cup semifinal game. The Bulldogs are on a 26-game winning streak with a 26-1 record and holding the top seed in the NCHA along with the USCHO poll and the Pairwise rankings. Trine has also been playing some good hockey as they sit with a 19-8 record and a five game winning streak.

Trine holds the fourth seed in the NCHA Harris Cup playoffs and swept the fifth seeded Lawrence University in the quarterfinals by scores of 4-1 and 3-2 in overtime. Of the teams falling short of the top-15 in the USCHO poll, Trine is sitting with the most amount of votes at 20 while sitting 14th in the Pairwise rankings ahead of the NCHA three seeded Aurora University.

Earlier this season, Adrian battled Trine in a home-home series back in November. The Bulldogs came away with the sweep with a pair of 3-2 victories. Cameron Gray picked up the win at home in game one with 32 saves, and Nic Tallarico recorded the road win with 28 saves. Hunter Wendt had himself a weekend recording two assists in game one and two goals in game two. Rex Moe also netted a pair during the first contest.

Adrian is playing its best hockey ourscoring opponents 156-51 on the season as they average 5.8 goals per game. Alessio Luciani still leads the team with 42 points on 13 goals and 29 assists while Ty Enns sits four points behind at 38 with the help of 18 goals and 20 assists. Rex Moe sits second on the team in goals behind Enns with 16 while Sam Ruffin sits second in assists behind Luciani with 22. Ruffin recorded a milestone during the quarterfinal series picking up his 100th career point.

Gray remains perfect in goal for the Bulldogs with an 18-0 record with a shutout. Gray has a goals against average of 2.18 to go wil a save percentage of .916 with 423 saves. 

The Bulldogs control the all-time series with Trine as they sit undefeated against the Thunder with an 18-0 record. The two teams faced off in the 2021 Harris Cup playoffs where the Bulldogs came away with a 4-1 win.

The NCHA Harris Cup semifinal game is scheduled to take place at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday, February 26 with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM.
