ADRIAN, Mich. -- Once again, the Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team returns to the Slaats Cup semifinal round. The Bulldogs came away with a sweep over Finlandia University with a 5-0 victory on Friday night, and a 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
Sophie Goldberg was in goal against for Adrian recording another shutout for the black and gold.
Adrian struck early in the first period with a goal from
Karmen Anderson with assists credited to
Sydney Daversa and
Jessica VonRuden. Eight minutes later,
Jocelin Hudanish caught a pass from
Une Bjelland and
Kathryn Truban to net the second goal of the game and lead 2-0. Daversa later picked up her second point of the game with a goal as did Bjelland who scored shortly after to put the Bulldogs up 4-0.
The second period was scoreless for a while until Hudanish struck again to lead 5-0 and give her another goal on the day. Thirty seconds into the third period,
Kaleigh Cadorette finds the twine to put Adrian up 6-0 resulting in the final score.
Two of Adrian's goals came on the power play while Finlandia went 0-for-3 against the Bulldog penalty kill. Adrian has now recorded shutouts in seven of the last ten games.
Having the No. 1 seed in the Slaats Cup Playoffs, the Bulldogs will serve as host to both semifinal games and the Slaats Cup Finals next weekend on Friday and Saturday. Adrian will play Friday night at 7:00 PM against a to be announced opponent.
