MEQUON, Wis. - At the Ozaukee Ice Center, the Adrian women's hockey team had their fair share of chances down the stretch, but ultimately dropped the first of five-straight games with a 2-1 decision to Concordia-Wisconsin.
The loss is Adrian's first in conference-play this season, and the first on the road against the Falcons since 2010.
Trailing by one goal entering the third period, the black and gold threw everything they had at Concordia's Annalina Van Hercke, but the host's netminder stood her ground, even in the midst of a six-on-four opportunity for the visitors in the final minute.
Annika Hanson notched the Bulldogs' lone tally on the evening, picking up a loose puck along the boards and firing it towards the goaltender's long side and past her outreached glove for the early lead.
Concordia would go on to tie the contest nearly seven minutes later, and eventually post the game-winning goal early in the second frame.
For Adrian,
Sophie Goldberg finished with 24 saves, while
Aileena Dopheide and
Reaghan Pietrowski each turned in a team-high four shots on goal.
The 'Dogs (10-6-1, 7-1-0 NCHA) and the Falcons go right back at it on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. EST.
