Track and Field Competes at First-Ever Red, White and Blue Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. - On Friday afternoon at the Lincoln Athletic Building, the Bulldog harriers competed in the 2022 Red, White and Blue Classic, hosted by Concordia Ann Arbor.
 
Women's Highlights

- Sophomore Emme Koutz ran a meet-best and season-low time of 11:17.00 in the 3,000-meter run, followed closely behind by her teammate Sydney Wilkie, who finished second with a time of 11:17.60. Both times are the respective runners personal-best.

- Freshman Amanda Mathews posted a third-place effort in the triple jump (9.36 meters).

- Cailey Beaudoin jumped into fourth-place with a leap of 1.55 meters in the high jump.

- In the 5,000-meter run, Mallory Bowker and Bailey Mruzik finished fifth and sixth, respectively, running times of 20:47.96 and 20:52.46.

- Freshman Ellen Zentera ran a top-eight time of 1:06.94 in the 400-meter dash, placing seventh.

- For the second week in-a-row, Ti Vanhorn set a new personal-best in the weight throw (13.18 meters), improving from last week's mark by 0.77 meters
 
Men's Highlights

- Weston Kvalevog had an eventful day, tying for first in the high jump (1.85 meters), then placed just behind his teammate Asher Cousino for fifth-place in the 400-meter dash. Lastly, the junior represented one leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay, finishing fifth with Caleb Ellis, Alec Grzegorek and Cousino.

- Derek Plitt turned in personal-best times of 6.87 in the 60-meter dash, and 21.83 in the 200-meter sprint. Both marks put him inside the top-15 in Division III.

- Nolan Breithaupt had two top-five finishes in jumping events, placing second in the long jump (6.65 meters) and fourth in the triple jump (12.03 meters).

- Cameron Overmyer soared the third-best height of 4.15 meters in the pole vault.

- In the 60-meter hurdles, Joshua Light ran a time of 8.83, which is the junior's best time so far this season in the final's heats of his event.

- The Bulldogs had a strong showing in the 5,000-meter race, led by Robert Diebold in third (15:33.10, PR), Brett Carlisle in fourth (15:53.10, PR) and Caleb Billings in fifth (16:29.70).
 
The track and field team continues its 2022 indoor season on Saturday, February 12 in Tiffin, Ohio at the Reggie Thomas Classic, hosted by Tiffin University.
