APPLETON, Wis. - At the Appleton Family Ice Arena, the Adrian women's hockey team wrapped up the Wisconsin portion of its five-game stretch in style, dominating hosts Lawrence University 7-0.
In just her third career game for the black and gold,
Brooklyn Kallander paced the offense with four points on two goals and two assists.
Gia Avalone turned in a productive outing with two assists, while six other Bulldogs chipped in points to round out the scoring.
In the opening frame,
Kaleigh Cadorette opened the scoring for the locals for the second consecutive day, picking up a chip-pass from Kallander at the blue line to set up a breakaway that the junior would finish off with a slick backhand.
Then, ten minutes later, the Arizona native, Kallander found the back of the net for the first time in her career, taking a pass from
Lindsey Sorrell and beating the Vikings' netminder shortside.
The second period is where the 'Dogs opened things up, taking advantage of several Lawrence miscues to expand their advantage to 6-0 after 40 minutes.
Sorrell got the puck rolling just under three minutes in after a scramble in front of the net, followed by two stellar, unassisted tallies by Reghan Pietrowski and
Aileena Dopheide.
Jocelin Hudanish tacked on her first goal since January 21 to close out the middle frame, firing a line drive into the lower-left corner of the goal.
The Bulldogs' defense was unbreakable throughout the afternoon, locking down especially over the final two periods en route to three more points in the NCHA standings. In fact, Adrian held the Vikings without a shot on goal in the second frame, marking the first such instance in Lawrence's short history.
All told, Adrian totaled 70 shots to the home side's seven.
Sophie Goldberg, despite the quiet appearance, was credited with her fifth-career shutout.
As the women's hockey team's road trip comes to a close, its on a six-straight home games, beginning on Monday and Tuesday against Lake Forest College at the Arrington Ice Arena.
