LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team took a trip to Chicago on Wednesday to take on Lake Forest College in a nonconference matchup. Lake Forest was coming off a 19-0 victory over Beloit, but that didn't scare the Bulldogs as Adrian laid it on the Foresters coming away with a 15-3 victory.
Travis Fox and
Michael Jonas recorded three goals each during the win.
The Bulldogs held a 4-0 lead after the first quarter.
Chris French started the scoring for Adrian with an unassisted goal. Just over four minutes later, Lake Forest tied the game with a goal to make it 1-1. French struck again to regain the lead at 2-1 shortly followed by a goal from
Michael Jonas. With just over a minute to go in the first quarter, Jonas found the back of the net once again to lead 4-1.
Travis Fox added to the scoring in the second quarter with a man-up goal to lead 5-1. With 8:12 remaining in the half, Jonas picked up his third goal of the game to make it 6-1 which resulted in the first half score.Â
After the break, Fox picked up a quick goal on an assists from
Jake Coakley to make it 7-1 which was followed up by a goal from
Peyton Gasche. Not too long after the goal by Gasche,
Trenton Garcia put his name on the stat sheet to make it 9-1. Gasche later struck again on the man-up advantage before Fox hit the tenth unanswered goal with two second left in the quarter to go up 11-1.
Lake Forest broke its silence with a pair of goals to begin the fourth to make it an 11-3 game, but
Owen Kelly took back the momentum with a fourth quarter goal.
Derek Hassel score a pair of goals later in the quarter to give him his first two goals of his career. With time whinding down in the game,
Riley Edwards scored his first goal of his career on the man-up advantage to give the Bulldogs a 15-3 lead.
Max Leventis won 17 faceoffs to go with 18 ground balls on the game to lead the team.
Jack Messel and
Griffin Roisen led the Bulldogs on defense as each of them picked up two caused turnovers.
Sam Spangler got another win in goal to improve to 2-0 on the season allowing just three goals while making 11 saves.
The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they host Earlham College on Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 PM inside Docking Stadium.
