ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team was back at home on Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs hosted Earlham College. After a 15-3 win over Lake Forest on Wednesday, Adrian picked up where they left off netting 24 total goals to win 24-5 behind 12 different goal scorers.
The Bulldogs brought the energy early scoring five goals in the first quarter to lead 5-0.
Eli McComb got the Bulldogs on the board with a man-up goal to lead 1-0 early.
Cameron Reed followed it up with a snipe to go up 2-0. Less than a minute later,
Owen Kelly netted an unassisted goal to extend the lead. Later in the period,
Brett Koczenasz and
Riley Edwards each recorded goals of their own.
Adrian kept the momentum in the second quarter with goals from
Peyton Gasche,
Chris French, and
Travis Fox all in the first three minutes. Gasche netted another goal to lead 9-0 on an assist from
Michael Jonas who picked up his fourth consecutive assist on the goal. Earlham got on the board with 10:34 to play in the half, but Edwards answered with a goal followed by a man-up from Gasche and an unassisted from Jonas to lead 12-1. French, Fox, and
Derek Hassel recorded goals before the end of the half to lead 15-1.
It was smooth sailing in the second half for Adrian. Koczenasz, McComb, Hassel, and Edwards netted goals to lead 19-2 after 45 minutes of play. Hassel netted a pair in the fourth followed by a goal from Koczenasz.
Steven Martin added to the scoring as did
Trenton Garcia.
Hassel finished the game with five points on four goals and an assist while Gasche record three goals and two assists. Edwards and Fox also picked up three goals each.
It was a light day for the Adrian goaltenders as
Sam Spangler,
Mason Obeldobel, and
Tyler Swanson shared the time in goal facing just eight shots while making three saves.
Adrian moves to 3-0 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, March 12 at home against Chatham University at 2:00 PM.
