BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - At the Minges Creek Athletic Club, the Adrian men's tennis team picked up its second win in as many days, and opened conference-play with an 8-1 victory over Olivet College.
This marks the third different time this season that the Bulldog men (6-5) have won back-to-back matches, as they move back above 0.500 for the first time since earlier this month.
After coming up one point short of sweeping doubles on Friday afternoon, the black and gold left it all out on the courts and picked up a 3-0 lead with three-straight wins in the first portion of competition.
Ryan Cuddy and
Brandon Falk got back in the win column with an 8-4 win in their match, while the duos of
Whitman Hopper and
Sebastian Smith, and
Jackson Wilcox and
Darren Walter completed the doubles sweep with 8-6 and 8-0 results, respectively.
In singles, the 'Dogs secured the match outright with five additional points, secured by
Gabriel Hankey, Smith, Cuddy, Perry and Hopper. The latter three each swept their respective bouts in straight sets, while Hankey and Smith needed tie-breaking third sets to clinch their wins.
Adrian continues its conference-slate on March 29 when it hosts Albion College at the Craft Tennis Complex. The Bulldog women, who have been off since Spring Break, will take on the Brits the following day at home.
