ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, the Adrian acrobatics and tumbling team utilized a strong start in the first half of competition to hold off Davis & Elkins and win its three-straight meet, 231.420-230.340.

The Bulldogs (3-1) picked up the early edge on the evening with a near two-point cushion in the Compulsory event. The quartet of Hailey Brower, Leah Canterbury, Payton Young and Izzy Dominguez helped the home side to its initial lead, outscoring the Senators 7.25 to 4.80 in the event's Acro heat.

Next, in the Acro event, Adrian posted a clean, three-heat sweep, beginning with a score of 8.75 from Joelle Howard, Gabby Barksdale and Hannah Jakaus. Teammates Courtney Moore, Morgan Seavolt, Brower, Young and Canterbury followed up with a 7.70. Then, Taryn Pitre, Jordyn Swinkowski, Browner and Yong sealed the deal with a mark of 9.15, helping the 'Dogs to an overall event score of 25.60 to the Senators' 19.50.

In the final segment before halftime, the black and gold got just enough from the synchronized pyramid heat to win the overall Pyramid event, 27.30 to 26.95.

After the break, back-to-back event victories by Davis & Elkins drew them right back into contention heading into the Team event. The Bulldogs did nab one tally in the Tumbling segment of the evening, courtesy of Alex Turi and Alessandra Gigliotti.

Despite their third consecutive meet with a plus-80 Team event score, the Bulldogs were narrowly bested by the visitors, 83.74 to 83.12.

Nevertheless, when the final scores were presented, it was Adrian emerging victories by a margin of 1.08, one of the closest winning margins in program history.

Next on the docket for the black and gold is their final road trip of the season to Concordia-Wisconsin on March 26.
