Women's Lacrosse Resumes Non-Conference Schedule this Week

ADRIAN, Mich. - This week, the Bulldog women's lacrosse team will continue its season-opening non-conference slate with pair of matches against Heidelberg University and Franklin College.

Adrian enters the third week of the 2022 campaign with a 1-3 overall record, and is looking to win back-to-back home contests for the first time since April of 2019.

The 'Dogs can achieve that feat against the Student Princes on Wednesday.

Heidelberg (0-2) opened its season with a slim, 12-11 loss at Bethany (W. Va.) before dropping its most recent match at Westminster (Penn.), 15-7, on March 2.

Brianna Lloyd makes up most of the Princes' 9.0 scoring average with her team-high seven goals. The junior also paces the team with 13 total shots, including 12 on goal.

Senior Sydney Shaffer is tied with Lloyd atop the Heidelberg line-up with seven points of her own, five of which coming on assists.

In goal, Ella Lane sports a 12.9 goals-against average and a 0.426 save percentage in two starts for Heidelberg, who as a team are 3-for-8 on the season on free position attempts, and 29-of-40 on clear attempts.

Then, on Saturday, Adrian begins a three-game road trip in Indiana with Franklin College.

The Grizzlies (1-2) captured their first victory of the season over the weekend, defeating Elmhurst 12-11.

Through three matches, Franklin is averaging 8.3 goals an outing behind the efforts of Baleigh Riddle, whose eight goals and nine total points are both team-highs.

Junior Victoria Simmons sits just behind Riddle with eight points on four goals and four assists, followed by a trio of Grizzlies with four points each.

Between the pipes, sophomore Riley Rice has appeared in all three games for Franklin, stopping 25 shots en route to a 0.316 save percentage.

As is the 'Dogs match-up with Heidelberg, Saturday's meeting with Franklin College will the first-ever between the two programs.

Adrian is already 1-1 this season against new opponents, including a 20-0 defeat of Rochester University last Wednesday.

Olive Stevens and Carlee Casteel continue to be the Bulldogs' biggest offensive contributors, combining for 25 points on 17 goals and eight assists through four matches.

Zoe Weber, who got her scoring going against Rochester last week, is up to third on the local's line-up with six points, followed by Cassidy McGeorge and Delaynie Harris with five points each.

In net for Adrian, Avery Huxter has shown improvement as the season has progressed, actively ranking second in the MIAA with 40 saves, and third with a 0.471 save percentage.

Live stats and video will be available for both of this week's contests.
