Alma Pulls Away from Women's Lacrosse, 21-13

ALMA, Mich. - At Bahlke Field, Olive Stevens went off for a career-high nine goals. However, a significant scoring run over the second and third quarters helped propel the homestanding Scots past the Adrian women's lacrosse team, 21-13 in conference-play.

Over the middle two frames, Alma outscored the Bulldogs (4-7, 0-2 MIAA) 16-7 after coming out of the first 15 minutes with only a two-goal lead.

Adrian managed to stay within striking distance throughout most of the second quarter, trailing 7-5 at one point with just over five minutes until halftime. It is at that point when the Scots rallied off 13 of the next 17 goals scored in the contest, expanding their advantage to 20-9 by the end of the third quarter.

Carlee Casteel notched the 'Dogs first tally of the afternoon early in the first frame to tie the game at 1-1. Then, after back-to-back goals by the home side, Stevens began her run, recording the next five Adrian goals, including all four in the second quarter.

Casteel would go on to tack on her second goal of the game in the initial stages of the second half, followed by another pair of marks by Stevens, and two additional goals from Zoe Weber.

The trio made up all 14 of Adrian's total points on the day, combining for 30 shots as well.

Jordan Hunt was handed the decision in goal for the Bulldogs, stopping seven shots in another complete-game effort.

As a team, Adrian stuck around with Alma on shots, 42-36, and was near-perfect on clear attempts, finishing 9-for-10.

Next on the docket for the women is consecutive home contests beginning with Albion on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Docking Stadium.
