ADRIAN, Mich. - At Docking Stadium, the visiting Thunder of Trine University came out of the gate strong and did not look back, defeating the Adrian women's lacrosse team 17-3 in the Bulldogs' penultimate home game of the season.
The eventual victors scored twice in the opening minute of the evening, and went on to build a 6-0 lead before the halfway point of the first quarter.
Carlee Casteel notched the black and gold's first tally of the night with just under six minutes to play in the opening frame, sniping a laser shot from around ten yards out to get the 'Dogs on the board. The Thunder, however, kept the momentum on their side from that point, outshooting the home side 24-6 over the first half.
Olive Stevens and
Zoe Weber also scored for the Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Additionally, Stevens led Adrian with six shots, five ground ball recoveries and three caused turnovers. All told, the locals outpaced Trine on the ground, scooping up 31 ground balls to the Thunder's 24.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. start at Saint Mary's College.
