SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - On Saturday, the Adrian track and field team opened the outdoor portion of the 2022 season at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic, hosted by Spring Arbor University.
All told, the Bulldogs came away with seven first-place finishes.
Men's Highlights

Derek Plitt began his outdoor season with a clean sweep of the 100 and 200-meter dashes. The senior ran a time of 10.89 in the first race before posting a winning-time of 21.62 in the latter event. His teammate
Caleb Ellis came in not far behind in the 200-meter sprint, finishing third with a time of 23.24.
- Adrian dominated the 10,000-meter run, placing three runners inside the top four, including
Robert Diebold (1st, 31:55.16),
Brett Carlisle (2nd, 32:42.90) and
Caleb Billings (4th, 34:54.28).
- Senior
Brendan Baker placed first in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in just under a minute at 58.22.
- In the 110-meter hurdles, Josh Light turned in a solid second-place effort of 15.97, while
Asher Cousino came in sixth-place with a final time of 16.90. Light also threw a fourth-best distance of 40.98 meters in the javelin.

Weston Kvalevog had himself an eventful afternoon, placing third in the high jump (1.80 meters), fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.80), and ninth in the javelin (39.11 meters).

Nolan Breithaupt posted top three finishes in both the long jump (2nd, 6.01 meters) and the triple jump (3rd, 12.09 meters).

Cameron Overmyer, fresh off of winning an indoor-conference title in the pol vault, placed second in the event with a leap of 4.25 meters.
Women's Highlights

Emme Koutz ran hard in the 1,500 and 800-meter runs, finished first (5:03.92) and second (2:26.99), respectively.

Bryanna Carey tossed a meet-best distance of 35.96 meters in the discus, and also placed fifth in the shot put (10.79 meters).

Amanda Mathews won the triple jump with a leap of 9.92 meters, and placed third in the long jump (4.37 meters).

Angie Zefi and
Audrey Salenbien finished fourth and sixth, respectively in the 400-meter dash, while
Dana Avery posted a third-place effort in the 100-meter hurdles.

Reaghan Pietrowski brought her speed off the ice and turned it into a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, and a ninth-place showing in the 200-meter sprint.
Next up for Adrian is a trip to Rochester, Michigan to compete in the Grizzly Invitational, hosted by Oakland University.
