Men's Tennis Rattled by Aquinas in Nonconference Match

ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Craft Tennis Complex, the Adrian College men's tennis team began its short nonconference-stint against Aquinas College, falling to the Saints 9-0.

The visitors got a big step ahead of the Bulldogs (8-9, 3-3 MIAA) with a three-match sweep in doubles, then the action was relocated to the Merillat Fieldhouse due to an incoming rain shower.

Once inside, Aquinas did not let up, emerging victorious in each of the six singles bouts to ice the contest.

The black and gold's best chance of the day to garner a point came at No. 1 singles between Adrian's Brandon Falk and the Saints' Joel Hancox.

It was a back-and-forth battle through and through, with the Bulldogs' freshman taking the opening set 6-4 before Hancox came back to force a tiebreaker with a 6-4 second-set win.

In the 10-point tiebreak, Falk fought back from a pair of two-point deficits to eventually draw the set even at 6-6. However, from that point, the opposition rallied off four-straight points to take the break, 10-6.

Adrian is right back at it on Thursday afternoon when it welcomes Spring Arbor University. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from the Craft Tennis Complex.
