HOLLAND, Mich. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team began its tough week against the MIAA's top competition in Hope College. The Bulldogs traveled to Holland, Michigan where they struggled throughout the game and dropped the contest 19-6. Adrian's seven game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday night.
Hope jumped on the board with a pair of early goals in the first quarter. Brand Hoerauf got the Bulldogs on the board with 10:43 to play in the first to make it 2-1. Hope responded with two more goals to lead 4-1, but
Brett Koczenasz put the Bulldogs back within two. Hope scored twice more before the end of the quarter to lead 6-2 after the first.
The Bulldogs were shutout out in the second quarter and trailed at halftime 11-2.
Coming out of the break,
Michael Jonas scored for the Bulldogs to make it an 11-3 game. Hope responded but was answered a couple minutes later with a second goal from Jonas. Hope went on to score four unanswered goals to end the quart and lead 16-4.
After Hope scored to begin the fourth quarter, Hoerauf scored his second of the game to trail 17-5. Hope made it 19-5, but
Chris French netted his 35
th goal of the year to answer for Adrian.
Sam Spangler falls to 11-3 on the year in goal as he finished Wednesday night with 19 saves.
The Bulldogs return to action at home on Saturday, April 23 when they host Albion College at 4:00 PM. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Bulldogs will hold senior day for the class of 2022.
